External devices can be connected to the HDMI-Out port of the Sessionboard to mirror the Weframe display. The connected devices must be 4K or UHD capable. If the resolution performance of the connected devices is lower (e.g. Full-HD), third-party accessories are required.
Examples of use:
- Transmission of screen content from a Sessionboard to a large screen
- Output of screen content from one Sessionboard to other Weframe devices
Please note: Even if you have connected an external device to the HDMI-Out port, you can still use the Sessionboard as usual. The screen from the Sessionboard is only transferred to the external device.
Connecting a video projector to the Sessionboard
A video projector is required to transfer the screen content from a Sessionboard to a large screen. While a 4K projector can easily be connected to the HDMI-Out port of the Sessionboard, a scaler is required to use an HD projector that cannot process 4K or UHD signal.
Example: Video scaler for connecting a full HD projector
A video scaler can be used to convert the image resolution of the source device into the resolution of the end device. In the case described here, the scaler is used to convert the video signal from a higher resolution (UHD) to a lower resolution (full HD). This downscaling process also allows an HD projector to be used to display the image from the Sessionboard.
Please note:Ideally, the scaler has an HDMI input according to the HDMI 2.0 specification (with a bandwidth of 18 GBps). If the input is below HDMI 2.0, less than 60Hz is received, which results in motion blur.
Coupling several Sessionboards
The screen content of one Sessionboard can be transferred to several Sessionboards that are connected to each other. This possibility of screen sharing to other Sessionboards can be particularly useful at large events if the connected units are to be used as pure displays.
Please note: If you connect several Sessionboards in this way, only the first device can be used interactively. On the following devices, only the screen is transmitted; they serve as a pure display. Using Shared Session, you can display content on several Sessionboards and also edit it together.
The Sessionboards are connected from the HDMI-out port of the original device (host) to the HDMI-in port of the first connected device. All other devices are wired accordingly (second device HDMI-out to third device HDMI-in etc.).
Display in screen sharing window
The image / content of the output device is displayed (similar to connecting a laptop / PC) in the screensharing window of the connected device. You can access the screen sharing window by simply tapping the start button on the start screen. To display the transferred image in full screen mode, tap the screen sharing window twice.
Sequence of start-up
In the best case, the Weframe units are connected to each other before switching on and then switched on in reverse order. Accordingly, the last Sessionboard connected is switched on first and the Sessionboard at the beginning of the chain is switched on last. This is necessary because the Sessionboards can already access the picture coming from the HDMI-In port. If the Sessionboards were already switched on at the time of connection, restart the previously connected device in the chain.
Please note: There is no limit to how many devices can be connected in this way. However, it must be taken into account that there may be delays in image transmission, which increases with the number of Sessionboards coupled.
External loudspeakers, for example, can be connected to the audio-out connection of the Sessionboard. The connected audio device can be used immediately, although the source cannot be changed. The sound is output on all devices at the same time.
Please note: Older generations of the Sessionboard also have an Audio-In connection.
